Incubator reached 95-100 F are the spores dead?

I tried to configure my aquarium heater to a 80-85 F but i accidentally had it on really hot last night. I checked the thermometer this morning and it was at around 95-100 F. It was at this temperature for about 9 hours . Would the spores die off 10-15 degrees above temperature at this length of time? Is it going to be okay if I just set the temp to 80-85 now and re-innoculate with more spores?

' should be fine. (not the best thing for them, however) I think it's near 108 degrees F that damage starts to happen.

Well.....you did a no no But they might make it.......106 degrees is the point of no return. You say you hit 100....that means the inside of the jar might have reached 102. You probably will have them stall on you....then they will come back. Don't put more spores into the jars. Give them a week......and leave the damn temps at 84 to 86 degrees. Good luck!

Hey Roadkill, why shouldn't I put more spores in there? Anything bad might happen?

Quote: "why shouldn't I put more spores in there? " 1.) waste of spores....just make some more jars. 2.) might contaminate the jars....not worth taking the chance. 3.) might make the substrate too wet. Last 2 answers answered your last question. Just give em sometime.....They will probably do fine. You have some extra spores.....make a few more jars. Good luck!
