PICARD!

Picard. However, I think it'd be much more fun to meet William Shatner in real life than Patrick Stewart.

Picard.
Not just a better captain (Kirk was a high roller with the lives of his crew & federation property/diplomacy) but TNG in my view is a better series than the old Startrek. The old Startrek was so two-dimensional and pulled a Deus Ex Machina alot of the time which made it predictable and boring.
Once you've seen that much-hyped episode "the trouble with Tribbles" you had to come to the conclusion that the old series, well, sucked.

James T. Kirk. Don't get me wrong I like them both but Kirk gets the nod, he set the standard.

Bah, Cpt. Janeway. Not the hottest chick ever, but you gotta love a dame with that kind of confidence and resolve.

Picard and his crew exemplify some of the worst in American imperialist ("Fascist") "frontiersmen" philosophy (despite the much vaunted "Prime Directive"). I like Patrick Stewart but dear old Bill -and his crew- must get the nod. The original crew were much more like "The Pranksters" than the "Next Generation" ever were. How can anyone not be moved by Scotty, Spock, McCoy, Uhura and the rest? Go goosestep elsewhere!

There is a story that Leonard Nimoy once had to use the vulcan neck pinch/grip (?) to stop Shattner singing !
