so something crazy happened tonight, and i'm not sure how to feel

Two guys in the dorm next to mine were goofing around or something and ended up falling out a third floor window down 4 stories (they fell to the basement level) onto concrete, possibly hitting some railing there as well. This happened just a couple of hours ago. I can see the huge blood splatter from my window, it's only like 30 feet away. Every time I look out my window it almost seems like there's a glint on the blood form the streetlight, but I don't understand how that could be, because I think someone would have cleaned it up by now.

I don't know if either of them lived, but I think at least one did because apparently he was conscious and able to talk when they took him to the hospital. This is really bothering me. These guys were still young, haven't even started a career yet. Thay had to have been smart with a lot of potential because this is a pretty good university. But evyerthing concerning them may be over now. They might not even exist anymore. I don't really know how to react. In fact I suppose life has sheltered me to an extent, as this has been the nearest I have been to death. It's such a violent death too. There was a lot of blood.

I was just curious if you guys might have any advice on how to cope? I'm not really freaking or anything, but it'd be nice to not continuously dwell on it.

damn man. Thats pretty messed up. But i do know the feeling. Your mind is just trying to grasp what just happened. Just try and go for a walk in nature/park. I find it helps with coping when you experience death near you.

I saw a whole family die violently in a car crash right in front of me when I was 11 or 12. The thing is, I can't remember any of it. My mind's completely blocked it out, although I know for a fact it happened. Suppose it was probably because I was so young, but who knows, maybe you'll block it out too.

To be honest, I was scared I saw someone die. They had to call in ambulances and firetrucks.

Yeah I suppose landing on your head and breaking your neck would kill you.

You'd think the guy could have at least moved enough to land on his back or something.

15 feet? Yeah it'd hurt, but chances are 99.9% of people who fall from heights of 15 feet don't die.
