My puppy

Lucy just got spayed today.  We picked her up about an hour ago, and she is absolutely out of it.  She's still feeling the after effects from the anesthesia, and they have her on a bunch of pain medication as well.  The poor thing...you can tell she's really uncomfortable, and is whining each time she exhales :crazy: 

We're trying everything we can do to make her happy - lay with her, pet her, move her bed so she's right next to us, spread her out on the couch, but I think she's just REALLY disoriented and confused from the medicine.  The vet said she'll bounce back tomorrow, but no walks/activity other than to go outside to go to the bathroom for the next 2 weeks. 

Her little tummy is all shaved, and her eyes are all wet around them.  Apparently dogs don't close their eyes while under anesthesia, so the vet put lubricant in her eyes so they wouldn't dry out...so it looks like she's been crying all day  :sad:  I hope this whining stops soon...it's breaking my heart  :frown:

she's a yellow lab...she's 7 months old tomorrow.

just cover her with a blanket and pet her, she'll be fine like the vet says. Im sure if you sit there and comfort her she'll calm down after some more time since the drugs wont hold too strong of an effect for long.

Awww...

All my :heart: goes out to Lucy. Reading that made me well up a bit. I have a lump in my throat.
Damn, that's so sad. She must be so confused as to why this happened as well. :frown:
I wish I could snap my fingers and make it all better for her.

This makes me hope I don't have to neuter Shane.  :nonono:

Actually, our decision to spay her had nothing to do with the words of Bob Barker. Studies have shown that dogs are a lot less likely to contract certain types of cancer if they never go in to heat. It's healthier for them, and since we don't want her to have puppies any time soon anyways, it was the logical thing to do.

She can't be that in THAT bad shape, I just gave her a rawhide stick and she DEMOLISHED it.  And she's doing her normal routine of falling us all around the house.

cute dog.. my pitbull puppy is only 4 weeks old.. but he started eating puppy food the other day.. im going to go pick him up from the owner in 1-2 weeks!!.. pictures to come later tonight!

that puppy is definitely cute, but I don't think you can say a 4 week old puppy is "better" than a full grown pitbull  :tongue:

Cuter maybe, but "better" is pretty subjective  :grin:

They're both great looking dogs though.  :thumbup:

Hey buddy, dont diss the pit.

My baby's got a little brindle in her too. You cant see it in that pic.

Plus thats when she had mange. Fucked up first owners didnt take care of her correctly.

lol i def cant diss the pit.. i love pitbulls.. mine is like 75% pit with a little bit of some kind of terrier in him.. most adorable thing ever.. his name is Audi.
