are you using a glove box or the oven tek??
Do you already have cultures on dishes isolated and such if so give some h2o2 MEA a try

>what is it?
It sounds like aspergilus mold, can be dangerous if you inhale the spores.

I didnt use a glovebox, and thatts prob why my contam rate was so high. I accually just did the tissue sample right on my kitchen counter(yeah I know)But thats why we make so many dishes right? this contam is the #1 mold i seem to get the most frequently on agar, it is elevated of the agar kinda high, sorta like soap suds.
and no its not a isolated yet, its on clean agar(first agar inoc)

Do all your agar work w/ the oven tek,clean hands and a face mask (or do not breathe directly on it)
This should help.

100 latex gloves $ 6.95 at wall mart. You can build a glovebox for under $30, If you have a little extra cash it is well worth your time.

Actually, if it's really hairy as you describe--possibly even pushing up against the top of the dish, you likely have one of two things;
Mucor sp. or Rhizopus sp.
Not that it makes much difference, pitch ASAP;

Also, because these guys get so extremely aerial so fast, it's important to tape the plates shut if you have any question about it [masking tape works well, fold an end so you can remove easily]. Storing a Mucor plate near clean plates can still cross-contaminate if there is ANY lifting of the lid due to the growth of the mold. This can even occur overnight, it grows so fast!
May not be necessary if you use heavy glass/pyrex petris.
