grain-bird seed

ok, i'm gonna spawn the horse dung i have left and i would like to try to do so with a grain or bird seed substrate. can i just use wild bird seed obtainable at the local dollar store or should i stick with finch seed?

tons of posts on this already, have you searched/read?
and yes you can use the normal birdseed, I would recocomend taking out the sunflower seeds if they are in there. I believe others have had success with the sunflower seeds, but as a post a week or so ago stated, when steeping the birdseed, the sunflower seeds float.
