Bird Seed Ingredients

I'm concerned with the bird seed that I bought.
Here are the ingredients on the label.

Millet,Milo,Sunflower Seeds,Grain products, Vitamin D-3 , A, E, B-12 supplements, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex, Triamine Monoitrate, Riboflavin, Niacin, Choline Chloride, Pridoxine Hrdrochloride, Biotin, Folic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Lysine Hydrochloride, DL-Methionine, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate, Manganous Oxide, Ferrour Sulfate, Copper Oxide, Calicum Oxide, Calcium Iodate, Zine Oxide, Magnesium Oxide, Calicum Carbonate, Dicalcium Phosphate, Dextrose.

Those are the ingredients on this bag. I have no idea what 95% of those are or how the effect mycelium growth? I'm a better off going and getting new grain? It does work but growth is very slow. After a grain trasfer it takes off for about 2 or three days then slow stand- still but keeps growing. Would I have better results with an organic grain wihtout 50 + chemicals in it. One other thing i clean the grain before PC it and take most of the sunflower seeds out.

did u get cheap seed? or expensive seed?
If it was real cheap for the amount and it says wild bird seed then your all good...

It is wild bird food the bag states that all over it and it was 13.99 for 40 pounds. I think it was a really good deal thats why i got it. But do the chemicals slow the growth, or cause any problems?

chemicals will hinder. But your seed seems legit and you should be fine.
Try some jars if your unsure. Just do a few, but it thinkit's all good!

The more expensive brands of WBS contain fungicides and other additives that are not palatable to mushies.

The seed my friend buys is labeled "Bird Feed" and costs him $3.99 for 25 pounds.

Thnks for the input like i said it does work but seems to get slower as the time goes by. Maybe I'll try to find the cheapest seed so it will be as natural as possible. Good point about the price and the amount of addtives in the seed.

There arent any anti-fungals, but I would be concerned with the amount of antiseptics in there... Honestly, I would recommend using a seed without the additives. I would also be concerned about pH levels. I guess you could buffer that down tho.

I say give it a shot. You got 40 Lbs of the stuff! At least you know whats in it now.
