I was sure I could find vermiculite and coco coir locally in LA somewhere but have had no luck at all. Does anyone know of a place in town or just some big name store that would carry some?

man, you live in california. Find yourself a hydro shop, they should def have the coir. They should carry the verm too. Major chains such as lowes, home depot, walmart and other chain stores which have gardening depts will most likely carry it.

I think for some reason the Home Depot I always go to is just really crappy. They almost never have what I need there, even though it seems like a normal Home Depot.

Hydro shop...haven't looked at any of those places, but that's a good/obvious choice I'd overlooked. Thanks a bunch.

Yup 3 bucks for 8 quarts of verm at lowes.

Snag, if you got that huge bag for 15$ at a hydro shop you got lucky, usually they're a ripoff compared to bigger chains.
