I order syringes off the net. I forget the name of the supplier around here.
I know for a fact the Wal-mart carries canning jars without a doubt. KMart would also carry them almost a sure deal. Ask someone. Sometimes they carry a stock of them during 'canning' times. Usually summer, so I would think they would be there. Target is also another possibility. Grocery stores aswell.
Vermiculite can be found at local nurseries usually. Around here it's Franks or Bachman's. The Home Depot here does not carry it anymore.
There's a few good therm./hygro. meters available. I hear that the ones from RadioShack work very well. You want a weather proof one to keep the moisture out in such high humidity.

If you have a LOWES around you that is where I got my Vermiculite. I got my canning jars at Walmart. Also http://www.thesporehaven.com carries syringes. They offer 10 syringes for $7.00. Like goolag said you can find digital hygrometer/thermometers at Radio Shack for around $30 p.s. the spore haven also carries pre-sterilized jars with substrate already in them. but they are like $45 for a case of 12 jars, which is a complete ripoff but i thought i'd let you know.

Where in the US do you live? Grocery stores will often carry canning jars at prime canning season. Here that's pretty much spring through fall. As for vermiculite, there's something about asbestos or something found in a batch that seems to have scared the major stores from selling it. Try a locally owned hardware store with a garden center, or a nursery. If you don't want to calibrate your hygrometer, try a digital cigar humidor hygrometer.

The reusable/disposable Ziploc containers work perfectly! I've been using the 1 cup size for some time now.The only problem is that after pressure cooking 3 or 4 times, you have to secure the lid on with a little tape. Yes,these containers are plastic and NO they do not melt in the pressure cooker! Give them a try!
