(Firefox) Lost my bookmarks

This has happened to me before. I had to restart my computer, and my bookmarks have all gone missing. Last time I managed to get them back by changing my Firefox profile back, but I've forgotten how to do this. Any help?

ctrl+alt+del ... processes ... firefox.exe ... close process...

fire up firefox again and it should work...

Goddamnit.

I tried to open the profile manager as it says here:
http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile

but it just opens up a new browser.

did you go to C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ in windows explorer?

dont use the profile manager... find that folder, then do a search for "bookmarks" (replace [username] with your user name... it's easy to point and click to it...

after you find your bookmarks, you can find out which new profile that it created, and delete that while firefox is closed

you might need to go to Tools>Folder Options>view and "show hidden files" in windows
