Requirement for posting personal choice:
Guitar solo must be over 1 minute long.
I will start things off.....
Ted Nugent's "Stranglehold"
-------------------- “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

I don't know if these are a minute long or not (most solos don't come close to a minute), but whatever.
Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower, Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) Floyd - Hey You, Comfortably numb outro
My absolute favorite is on the Stone Temple Pilots Live DVD on a song called "Long Way Home." Amazing.

Only reason I have stated " over one minute" is due to the fact that it segregates (in my opinion) true instrumental talent, them from someone playing power cords over and over......
Helmet "In The Meantime"

Some players shouldnt play +1 minute solos. Some are capable of pulling it off. It's a dangerous move if you ask me..but if done successfully, can be quite an experience.

Bill Connors(of chick corea's return to forever band fame)his solo on life suite pt 4 from the first Stanley Clarke album(1974). Honourable mention goes to Allan Holdsworth for his work on the 1975 Tony Williams album "Believe it"

I dig the organ/guitar solo on "Light My Fire" by The Doors. They jam that one out for a good bit.
Another good one can be heard during "Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2" from the live Wall CD.

I don't know about "best" but I enjoy Robert Fripp's solo on Brian Eno's song Baby's On Fire.

I HATE THIS QUESTION......
Well because I have thought about this way too long (years) and can never agree with my self...
For me there are two issues....
Technical; Satriani, Vai, Malmsteen Or Soul; Gilmour, Clpaton, Hendrix
I'm clueless....:loadbong:
