I just have a couple of questions about Inoculation.

First, what do I use to inoculate the jar? I've heard it's a mixture of spores and water.

Secondly, if it is a spore and water mixture, how much of each do I use?

Also, I've heard something about a need for malt agar. Any info on that would be appreciated.

I think you need to do a bit more reading before you set out on the wonder world of mushroom cultivation. Anyways:

1. Spores are usually injected out of a syringe directly into the jar. Inside the syringe there is a mixture of water and spores. There is usually 10 or 12CC/ML of water with thousands, if not millions, of spores. The is enough to innoculate 10 - 12 jars.
2. You defently do not need malt agar for the cultivation of mushrooms. That is something a little more advance and I suggest you forget the whole agar thing for now. People use it mostly for strain isolations, coloning, and cold storage.
