How do you know your drug facts are true?

Besides Erowid. And even still, Erowid has a lot of collaboration. And these people are all drug heads. Where do the original people get their information from? How do you KNOW your "facts" aren't still bullshit? I mean..it's easy to say "NO, that's a lie. This drug is in fact a million times less harmless than you think it is." But how do you know? Does the person you learned that from really know?

Drug information is such a crock because talking about it isn't really easily done. Especially with people who might have a chance of knowing.

i normally read scientific articles, couppled with reliable first hand expierence from friends and close asociates, then compare it with what is publicly known, and thought to be true.

I really like to listen to peoples different thoughts and ideas about certain drugs. Especially at shows and festivals, its fun to sit back and listen to to people argue there opinions about it

I would try to educate my friend on drugs. He is one of those peeps that thinks acid makes your spine bleed or something. Whenever I argue with him he sais "you just read those facts on the internet, they are probly bogus". It pisses me off. I dont even know how those damn rumors got started. All I know is that I used to be one of those people who thought acid and shrooms would make your brain bleed somehow. I then discovered the shroomery, erowid, and discussed it with veteran drug users. Just gotta do the research yourself.

I reallly hate when close friends are completely misinformed.. I have one friend that will eat mushrooms whenever, but won't try acid because he "doens't think he can handle it"

Another friend crushed up a xanax and mixed it with his joint.  While I'm listening to this, I picture him posting that in a forum and getting flamed :lol:  I waste my breath trying to inform people, really.

Most modern designer drugs have had little testing, and even then we still really have no clue what the longterm effects may be. For older drugs, like LSD, shrooms, pot, tobacco, alcohol, etc., there's plenty of information available if you look. Whether I look at scientific articles or just observe the cultures that arise out of particular drug usage, I am led to the same conclusion- drug use of most any kind is not harmful, and in some cases is very helpful; drug abuse and misuse of any kind can be very damaging. Now, the question becomes, for each individual, where does drug use become drug abuse/misuse?

Cross reference.

That means:

A)Read psychopharmacology books,the university kind of books
B)Read journals (Does anyone know that there is a Journal called, "Journal of Psychoactive Drugs?)
C)Be sure to keep up to date your knowledge.Pubmed's abstacts accessed online (its a .gov source by the way) helps alot.
D)Educate yourself from alla sites you can .That means reading Pro,Anti and impartial websites.

Hmmm The first and the second take care of the "u heard it on da net dood ,its false" ludicrous argument. They also broaden your undesrtanding so you can say a few extra words that "its not harmless and in the best occasion base it on toxic dosages (LD50 in...mice!!!!)".

The third is a credible up to date medicinal resource which is online.It hs abstacts from peer reviewed journals

Well,the fourth i gues goes without saying. One could say that a person reading only one side of the argument is on the same level with whoever else does the same,correctness of information set aside.Some people might read fanatically the DARE webpage,others fanatically Erowid. Its not much of a difference, since they both basically believe (and not research) what their favorite websource is telling them...And its all about researching and thinking on your own isnt it? Erowid might say that that donkeys fly ,would you believe it?
