Depression, myth thats called fact.

I hope some of you will read this with an open mind, keep in mind depression is a "working hypothesis" , which means the people on meds are the "lab rats" so to speak.

And dont say...."well you dont understand how I feel" I suffered for years and even used, what I now regard as poison, prozac, 6 months I was on this addictive , sex drive ruining shit.

These drugs are BUNK , and the depression THEORY is unproven.

http://adbusters.org/magazine/47/(for this one check out "maybe the drug industry should be given praise"
http://adbusters.org/magazine/36/toxic/

I am happier now then I ever have been in my whole life, and its because I exercise ,eat right, meditate, taking herbs and other plants:).....and because I got my life together I quit crying about NOTHING, started living again, by the way NO TV(or less is great step IMO)

Peace

Sorry. Maybe depression isnt real to YOU, but that doesnt mean it ISNT.

It certainly was for me. And it wasnt sitting in the corning crying because whatever or whatever didnt work out. It was being upset, all the time, even when things where going perfectly in my life.

I'll agree with you that many anti-depressents didnt work for me. Dope certainly does, and I'm well over it by now...But it certainly is real. Your experiences arent everyones...

Yes, i started living again too, and it is the most joyous time of my life, ever. Its like being a 4 year old with no troubles. I feel like walking up to strangers and screaming at them with vibrant enthusiasm *Im fucking happy - Get happy!*

"Life's what you make it, If you say your life sucks, it will suck indeed. Its all in your mind."

Those Lyrics, and MDMA SAVED my life.

"...But it certainly is real. Your experiences arent everyones..."

I am not saying its not REAL per se

just that if it DOES happen its because of the way we live ,did you even READ my links, north american lifestlye CAN BE un healthy for the mind in a big way, also another way it COULD happen IMO, is pollution, but this wouldnt be the norm, that being said I cant call it a disease.

and NO ONE truly can(or at least they shouldnt) ITS A HYPOTHESIS!!!!
NOT SCIENCE

and I find it interesting that you have METH in your SIG and AVATAR, I am not saying you are a meth head, but to much of that will make ANYONE depressed.

and PDU, I tottally BELIVE that your will plus MDMA had a positive effect, it been shown to work "in the lab" why not outside that lab

That seems kind of silly. Thats like saying...If you have cancer caused by pollution, it isnt a disease...Unless I'm understanding you wrong...Which I may very well be.  All that crank putting holes in my brain, you know?

Ive seen what real depression is like and i can assure you its real.

Depression is when there is unstabley low Serotonin levels in the brain. Unless you had real clinical depression or a doctor over analysed your diagnosis and prescribed you ssrii's when you didnt need them.

Depression is real. Its just that some doctors mix up being a teenager with depression. Thats what happened to the millions of teenagers and 20 somethings on prozac and zoloft when all they needed was a change of lifestyle.

"Depression is when there is unstabley low Serotonin levels in the brain."

THATs WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!!!

There is NO WAY top measure that, its up to the doctor to guess "where you are at".

Depression is THEROY.

So ok then Astorlogy is real!, I cant prove it yet but it is.

I am not saying people dont get depressed I am saying its Lifestyle, and in rare cases pollution.
Which IMO, will get worse, there are TONS of chemicals in our envoroment that mimic our own hormones, these are already wrecking the fondation of life itself,(sprem and eggs), but changing us at the same time.

To say we know for a fact what the differences are is impossible at this time, and if SSRI's are so great ,why are even the major drugs companys moving back to Maoi's?????
cause they are better

SSRI's will be as big a scandal as tobacco one day, I cant wait.

"Depression" is a marketing technique used by Pharmaceutical companies. How do you think they get the money to show those brainwashers - oops, commercials - on TV all the time?

Depression is an illusion. Eat 7g of cubensis and ponder this for a while, and it may save you the trouble of refilling your prescription.

The steps to conquering people:

1) Pit them against themselves (racism - completed)
2) Make them into emotionless, mindless peasants (depression meds - completed)
3) By the use of propaganda, brainwash them (CNN, evening news - completed)
4) Take away their only way to fight back (gun control - completed)
5) Rule them by fear, as they'll have no choice.

Think about it.

Thats silly. What if your depression meds just make you into the person you once were, able to think clearly and use your mind again?

Yeah right. Anyone I've ever known, without fail, has said depression meds have left them without any emotion at all. There's even a few posts with shroomerites saying it, as well.

When all your thinking is done for you, all that's left is being told how to feel.

From http://www.zoloft.com

And sometimes, depression can be brought on by a major life event: (no shit)

Months after losing her job, a woman still feels "blah" and has no interest in looking for a new job.

Suck it up and get a new fuckin job! Everyone loses a job at least once if not a bunch of times in their life. That's when you pick yourself up and do something for yourself rather than erasing your problems with a bottle of pills.

A year after her mother's death, a woman still feels sad, and thinks about suicide sometimes.

Well gee, if my mother died, I'd be pretty sad for the rest of my life! You only get one true mother in life, so it's expected you're going to be sad. But no, you can just take a pill and stop feeling altogether. That way, you won't feel sad about it anymore! Good things happen in life and so do bad things. Live and learn. If you stick yourself in the past rather than looking towards the future, it's no doubt that you'd seek the simplest solution: anti-feeling meds.

About 1 out of 6 American adults have depression during their lifetimes.

Oh, so the other 5 out of 6 Americans are walking around every day with huge smiles on their faces hugging everyone and high on life?

Signs and Symptoms of Depression

The term depression refers to:
a persistent sad mood and/or
loss of interest or pleasure in most activities

Now you've just gotta convince everyone they have "depression"

And is accompanied by some of the following symptoms:

Changes in appetite or weight

Do you always eat the same amount of food every day and stay at your static weight?

Changes in sleep patterns

If you answered yes above, then I'm assuming you sleep exactly 8.5 hours a night.

Restlessness or decreased activity that is noticeable to others

So, you've never been tired before? Especially when sad?

Loss of energy or feeling tired all the time

See above.

Difficulty in concentrating or making decisions

If you're going to rely on a doctor and a prescription to solve your problems, then no shit, you have a big problem making decisions.

Feelings of worthlessness or inappropriate guilt

You've never felt worthless or guilty, especially when sad?

Recurrent thoughts of death or suicide

Like thinking about death or suicide is a bad thing. It's a natural human emotion to want to escape problems rather than deal with them. That's why people will seek anti-depressants rather than doing something for themselves and getting back on track.

Actually, depression drugs have been shown to be more effective than placebo in studies, that's why they're sold. They may be often overprescribed, but there are a handful of people whose lives have been genuinely aided by them.

Be careful about antipsychiatry.org, a lot of what they're saying seems to be pseudoscience, their evidence seems to be mostly anecdotal, which should sound a few alarms to begin with.

I can elect to change all thoughts that hurt. [Re: Phluck]
    #2089018 - 11/10/03 12:16 PM (13 years, 26 days ago)

Ok quote from this book every once in a while. This quote is about pain which sort of = depression.
" pain is a sign
illusions reign
in place of truth.

Pain is a wrong perspective.
When it is experienced in any form,
it is proof of self-deception.
It is not a fact at all.
There is no form it takes
that will not disappear if seen aright.

Nothing can hurt you unless you give it the power to do so.

Pain is but a sign you have misunderstood yourself.

Do you not see that all your misery comes from the strange belief that you are powerless?

Seek not outside yourself....
For all your pain comes simply from a futile search
for what you want,
insisting where it must be found.

Look about the world,
and see the suffering there.
Is not you heart willing
to bring your weary brothers rest?
They must await your own release.
They stay in chains till you are free.

Pain is the ransom
you have gladly paid
not to be free.

It is your thoughts alone
that cause you pain.
Nothing external to your mind
can hurt or injure you in any way.
There is no cause beyond yourself
that can reach down and bring oppresion.
No one but yourself affects you.
There is nothing in the world
that has the power to make you ill or sad,
weak or frail.
But it is you who have the power
to dominate all things you see
by merely recognizing what you are."
