in case youre wondering, im hoping to buy upwards of 80 acres in the middle of the desert, somewhere around the town of holbrook AZ, off of i 40, and throw jam shows there.

but i cant seem to figure out the finances

i just e-mailed their booking agent at madison gardens or somthing.

I have always wanted to throw shows, and i have recently come into the means, and somewhat of a feasable plpan to do it. All i need now is to know how much everything costs, so i can see how large i can start up this venture :smile:

somthing like that, although to maintain the venue's security, i would purchase about 40-80 acres of land to have this happen on, owning the land. Also putting it in the middle of the desert with no neighbors :smile:

the land is going to run about 50k, more or less. fucking cheap considering the size, but there is no utilities out there, and cell phone service is sketchy to say the least. i will also have to make a deal with the couty to install roads, most likely out of my own pocket. im also going to have to secure a very large loan, and perhaps private investors for the first show.

The added costs of security, and infastructure i.e. water, shelter, security, medical personel, and so on is also going to be in the 10's of thousands. although much of the infastructure will be a one time purchase. this would include water holding tanks, buildings, shelters, fences, roads and so on.

Then you have the promotional side of things, which i can do resonably cheaply, massively printing flyers, and strategically printing hundreds of thousands of flyers.

Then there is insurance to deal with, not too hard to do, or that expensive on a per person basis..


the hardest part, is this. getting the aplicable licenses from the navajo county offices. As the county dosent make much money, this will bring a massve influx of money into their town, and the surronding areas, also filling their hotels and their small airport with people.

the population of the head town is only 100k, and its not in good shape, bringing 5k people to that town, with no place to live and an ability to spend uber dollars should win them over if i present the financial projections right.

all in all im jsut trying to figure out the upfront costs, to see how much the show will cost, per-head to see where ticket prices will need to be set at.

Your 5 years to late, to many people are going broke trying to pull this stuff off. You really would want someone with experience, before you jumped into this, as a partner. Every hippie in the country with land and a stack of scrap wood has tried this in the last 5 years.

the key to pulling this off is big name bands, proper promotion and price, and proper licensing from the local authorities.

You're going to need a lot of money for this project. Then there is always the chance that it will be a flop as Adom said. Good luck man.

How much do think getting roads paved, water holding tanks, buildings, shelters, fences, stages, and portable bathrooms is going to run you? "although much of the infastructure will be a one time purchase" Not true at all man, everything purchased will need to be "kept up."

make sure you get the mineral rights with the land.

do you know if you need mineral rights to drill a water well?



you'll need to get the land surveyed, civil drawings.
what kind of road and how long?
infinite possibilities really. it's impossible to figure anything without more info.


I do construction estimates but not for paving... i can give a ballpark number i'm sure though but without more info it's impossible.
You'd be better off sayin what you're lookin to spend ($50g or more right?) and then workin from there.
