White mold

Is a white fuzzy mold common? And if so does anyone know whether or not the mushrooms will still be able to grow through this mold?

is it common? yes it happens to many people. can mushrooms grow through it? not a chance. unless its very small and you can extract the moldy part then youre gonna have to start over.

don't listen to anyone else. i know everything. i'm tired of these old heads messin w/ the newbies. there is no such thing as contamination and diff molds and such. the white stuff is extra mycelium coming out. its going to make the mushrooms bigger. if things start turning green or dark brown then you got lucky and got some of the very rare mycelium that everyone wants. that's why they all tell everyone to throw it out when people ask about it. take that and clone it w/ some agar. it's all in the book. hope this helped.

Spray the "mold" with h2o2 mixed with water (5%-10%). If it starts to bubble and foam its contamination if not Ithink you are OK The Hawkseye has some pics of cobweb mold you may want to look at (http://www.thehawkseye.com/cobweb/cobweb.html). That should help you clear things up
