We need to reduce the number of aops in IRC

There are too many ops playing their op games. Its getting bad and distracting from the real purpose of IRC, which I'm not sure what it is.

Recently a lot of aops was given out. Even I got some. But I don't think its such a great thing. Chat is going downhill. People are kicking all the time. Non-ops feel alienated, and all the ops are on crack.

Also, some individuals (I won't name who except to say they aren't PEDophiles) with MKICK ability have been abusing that as well, which is pretty bad.

To my understanding the Admins of this site have no control over the irc channel. None of them are ops on the channel and it was set-up and run by someone completely outside this site. They just have a link to it on this site.

If I am wrong on any of this please correct me someone.... but I just wanted to give an answer to this issue.

We don't have control over it but we do influence it by linking to it and we do have ops...

The Shroomery used to have its own IRC server during which time Aphex was the boss and he was the god of Shroomery chat as well as the boards but then he left and the rest of us are dwellers of the ol;d times but we should definaely all heil Thor and _3d for wha they do on the boards which are far more important than chat.

I know when i used to get high at night, maybe do a new drug, i would go to #shroomey and talk it up and feel the warmth rise up to me. Now everyone is mean to eachother stepping on as many toes to get on top. Earning 'respect' any way they can, sad to say usually bad ways such as fear, dsrespect, and such. No matter how hard you try, you cant keep something like it used to be, but you can sure as hell make sure it doesnt become something bad.
