HELP - casing
    #493767 - 12/17/01 12:29 PM (22 years, 10 months ago)

I have a rubbermaid "under the bed" storage container. It measures to be about 2'x5'x6". It holds 10 gallons. Any how I plan on turining it into one mammoth casing. Should I just use the same old 50/50 casing techinque or should I do something different? How many cakes do i need? I was also thinking of placing a layer of perlite in the bottom as a fourth layer to help with the humidity?-good or bad idea.
so My plan is to have 1 layer of perlite, one of 50/50, one of broken cakes, one of peatmoss. Is this going to work?

hmm.. a single contaminated dust particle could f*** the whole thing.. seems like a big waste of substrate unless you are working in super sterile conditions... perhaps you should look into straw teks.. if you can get straw that is.

doesnt sound too bad; larger risk for contamination for potentially larger shrooms. with a huge casinng like that i would expect more than 6" shrooms so theyre prolly gonna be touching the top of your terrarium before the veil breaks; especially if you have 2" of substrate/casing then it will only allow 4" shrooms. you might want something taller but good luck! theyll prolly just turn sideways if they run outta room at the top thats all.

Holy shit people; COMMON SENSE! we were all born with it where did it go?
