 BIG drying prob...

This last week and a half here in Tx, the humidity has not dropped below 100% . Fortunatly it's also been fairly cool, so we're not walking around sweating gallons. Which leads me to my dilemma:
5 days ago I started drying my latest harvest.( I use the "fan tek" and then put my dried honeys into a container with baked epsom salts in it for storage.) 3 days after starting, my shrooms were STILL soft to the touch. Not wanting to leave them sit out on the fan for days and days and days I went ahead and re-baked the epsom salts and threw the shrooms in the jar with the salts. Checked two days later and my batch was GREEN and fucking SOGGY!! I lost what would have been about 7 to 8g dried!!! WTF?
So, my ? goes out to those who live in extremely humid hellholes like the one I live in: Please help with any drying teks you might have not involving heat. If you live in Florida or Louisiana (two places I can think of at least as humid if not more than south Tx) and you use a fan to dry your shrooms, Do they ever get dry?
I've read here that many folks use epsom salts and that they are as good or better than other actual dessicants. so why all of a sudden did mine seem to ADD moisture to my shrooms?
Fucked up situation let me tell you, cuz if I lose another harvest to the fucking water in the air here that won't go away I might just wind up eating green shrooms.....

Find yourself an airtight container and some GOOD dessicant. Epson salts may work, but I cant personally vouch for them. The stuff in stores, Dri-Z-Air and stuff works GOOD.

Fortunatley I have more than enough stored for Wednesday's premier of "Fellowship."
Fuck, that just pissed me off, losing those shrooms like that.....

yeah, hon...that sucks! to nuture and grow your little babies, all the while building in anticipation of consuming their wonderous magickal bodies, only for them to die on you in the final stage! its quite sad. yes you have been bamboozled, hoodwinked, blindsided!
oh...wish i could help but i dry with a fan here in mid oklahoma. there was a guy on the forum though who posted a dyring tek of a simple box he made, dammit! what was his name?? hang on babe..i'll get back to you on that!

users name is jebus2000 (might be easier to do a search on his user name) i use a set-up similiar to this but it is not as humid here as it is where you are. maybe you can modify this and stack more than one tray with the bottom tray holding dessicant so you combine the two drying methods for optimal drying!!

Thx again. Ya, Jebus has the kick ass fan setup. I just take mine and sandwich them between some wire mesh and turn the fan upwards and set the racks on top.
No I didn't lose those PESA's in the pics. One I did lose was the stem from the 19g B+ shown in that post. The cap got printed and eaten shortly thereafter.
The majority of the batch I lost wasn't pictured. (My cam needs new batteries.....)
Hmmmm, all this talk about shrooms..... I think I'll go eat some.....

Thanks for the positive feedback on drying Tek. I have been very busy for the last few months and have not been posting like I once did. I continue to grow and will be posting more pics and experiments soon.

Necron99... Buy a little six and ice sized cooler with a tight fitting lid. Punch/drill a hole in one of the corners so it exits the bottom of the cooler. Make the hole about the size of that air hose used in aquariums. Put a length of air hose through the hole and make the end of the hose "inside" even with the inside bottom of the cooler. Seal this inside and out with a rubber bathroom sealer. Keep this stuff out of the open end of the hose though. (What you're doing is making a drain in one corner of the cooler.) Run the other end of the line to an empty jug/jar/bowl/dish. Inside use window screen to separate desicant (I use Damp-Rid (calcium choride) in the paint/cleaning supplies section) shrooms, and make sure to leave an inch or so space between the desicant and the bottom of the container to allow the water to drain out. Set the cooler on a slant and dry dry dry! I have mine 3ft from a humidifier that runs 24/7... Stuff in the cooler goes bone dry in no time and the water collects outside the chamber... Tannis...

Tannis, that sounds like a pretty cool setup, and I'm definetily gonna give that a go. Thx.....
Fortunately, the humidity here backed the fuck off a little bit, but it's due to return by tommorrow night, so until I get this setup implemented, anybody have any idea how long I can leave my shrooms on the fan before they're completely worthless, or are my fears in this area groundless?
