Im heading ur way in two weeks, first we are camping at north Ballina(camp site south of where I found the Copelandia's) and then from there making day trips to Mt Warning,Nimbin,Byron Bay and then we are camping with my cousins at the foot hills of mt Warning and climbing it the next day. This is where I hope to find the mushies. In week two we are then heading up to Brissy and meeting some friends, then heading north again, staying with relatives in western Surfers Paridise for a couple of days. I was wondering if I have chosen the right time to find Cubies and Copes?, Would I find Cubies growing in garden beds in suburbian areas?. Are there Panaeolus subbalteatus growing in Q.L.D? Your help would be appreciated.

Perfect timing mate. Copes may or may not be there but plenty o cubies. Season ends near easter. As you may know you will be in the mother land when in Byron and ballina plenty of paddocks. Foothills of wollumbin(warning) no mushies unless you check the many paddocks on the way. Once you are at the base there are no paddocks as it is national park. No cows no goodies. You will NEVER find cubies and copes growing in gardens. the ONLY place to find copes and cubes is in well manured Paddocks. Not even manured grass or gardens. Usually turd are about two months old so I have heard. I used the capital letters because you may see look a likes in gardens and lawns etc. They could very well kill you. careful. You may even see look a likes in the paddocks remember the blue rule. I have found what I thought to be subbalteaus but MJ says it is something that is macroscopicly alike but not the same. there were many positive good ones around so I left them. I may have a photo though. happy trails Brewin

Eva thought of spreading a barrow load of cow crap around and innoculating the area with one of the "fruiting" cow biscuits??? Just a thought I probably shouldnt have made D
