HI, I'm not MJ, but I like that pic! Strikes me as awesome. Hmm......looks like a blue ringer. Although, a cyan is macroscopically identical to a blue ring, less the blue ring. So...............Cool pic! Stay cool1-Levi7.

That image by blue meanie falls into the Psilocybe australiana-Psilocybe eucalypta-Psilocybe tasmaniana complex. and Levi7, P. cyanescens and P. stuntzii are only macroscopically similar in the wavy shapes of the caps in their later stages of their growth and developement.. Their colors are different as are their gills and there stems. Psilocybe cyanescens caps are an Ochraceious Chestnut reddish caramel colo cap to straw-yellow in drying and Psilocybe stuntzii caps are various tones of tan to tan-brown to straw color in drying The p. cyanescens stems are ofter uslally pure white and the stems of Psilcoybe stuntzii are straw-yellow to a brownished-yellow color. There are also many other differences in their color characteristics, but the wavy caps are similar. The caps of P. stuntzii also show a well developed straite margin, something very lacking in Psilocybe Cyanescens. In fact the images posted by Lizard King of the Psilocybe coprophila can also, at various stages of growth and developement be noticible in Psilocybes stunzii caps where the gills of cap show through the cap when the cap is moist, This is referred to as a straiate margin, visable in P. stuntzii but not visable in most P. cyanescens. have a shroomy day. And Blue Meanie, no, there are no blue meanies in Australia. The P. cubensis ring is usually dark chocolate brown to purple-brown, not blue. The blue in the blue ringers ring is from the veil which is oftern white until it breaks open thus causing a slight oxidation. That ozxidatiuon when it hits the air causes the ring to turn blue. There are other blue ringer mushrooms, noably P. fimetaria, and some other species found in South America. have a shroomy day, mj Have a shroomy day and may all of your days be shroomy.

MJ - those mushies i posted as a pic under the 'Levi7 - better pics" post in this section - these shrooms had a bluering on all the specimens before the veil had broken - only slight, but definate. So what does this mean?? - also if i sent you prints, would you be able to help identify?? www.shaman-australis.com/shroom/Edited by bluemeanie on 07/28/01 05:19 AM.

OK, again, I'm not MJ. Sorry. If there's bluing, it's because the specimen has been tampered with. If the mushroom has a great Psilocin count, then the bluing is more intense. You rock, bluemeanie! You're an Aussie that brings us beautiful pics and lots of great info. Another one was Wombat. Looks like he's not around, but he's cool. I think he took me as a flamer. Wish I would've been more helpful. Stay cool!-Levi7.
