It seems to be that this idea is extremely popular. 2 polls have been made on whether or not we should have one in the past, one in OTD and one in the Pub. I can't remember who made the OTD one, but OMR made the Pub one. Both had immense support.

I really have no idea why this hasn't gone through yet.

boO helped to make this more of a reality, though she said it requires the presence of more support.

Hence this thread, to show that it has enough support to make it a reality.

Sports is a HUGE genre, pretty much everyone enjoys one sport of another. Whether it be skateboarding, hockey, golf, football, boxing, or hippy bashing..

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I think it would be better off as an OTD subforum, if it's going to be a subforum at all.

People like to talk shit when it comes to sports...at least I know I do.  Seems like it would be more suitable in a place where you're allowed to do that. 

Or, make it it's own forum :shrug:

There are also about gazillion forums with a similar description of that to Pub. Lay back, chill discussion.

Perhaps we should get rid of the Pub too?

There is no sports forum in the world with the same community as the shroomery.

The community makes or breaks the forum. Me being an active member here for 3 years has led me to grow quite fond of this community.

The rules should state that petty personal attacks unrelated to sports won't be tolerated but that obviously sports rivalries and flaming are going to be a natural result of sports discussions.

I think the pub has adopted the S&M "disagree and perma-ban" policy.

As for OTD, the only sports threads that somewhat stay alive are football and SOMETIMES baseball.

I like some sports, and I like sports discussion in OTD.

you can't have it in or below the pub without assuming
pub rules and that negates any possibility for real shit
talk so you have to put it in OTD and if you put it in
OTD, you may as well keep it in the main forum so it gets
lots of play.

a sports forum will further remove good discussion from
the pub and otd.
