How about an Outdoor Sub-forum?
    #3550956 -

when you guys are doing your sub forum type stuff, how would putting in an outdoors on in the health or similar forum?  for people who like hiking, camping, kayaking, skiing, surfing, and so on.  personally that would become my favourite forum!  as long as no pretty boy favio surfers clog up the board

Not a bad idea. Perhaps you might consider posting this suggestion in the forum which you think should house the new subforum - to see how responsive the forum regulars are to this idea. The Physical & Mental health forum seems like the best candidate for sure.

I clicked thinking you were talking about an outdoor cultivation subforum, which I think would be a good idea to put under mush cult.  I feel there is a lack of consolidated information on outdoor 'shroom cultivation.  Sure there are the teks, but a sub-forum would encourage more growers to try this route.  I think it would encourage a leap in knowledge for outdoor p. cubensis cultivation.  It's safer, can be easier, and, IMHO, outdoor cubensis growing doesn't get the attention it deserves.  Also, this subforum might be best started in the early spring, since most members can't grow cubies outside right now.

Just a thought

ya but it would also open doors to azuers, cyans and such as well.  most posts i see about those are flooded by cuby posts.  hell a non-cube sub forum would be bitching

perhaps teh outdoor idea could also embrace things liek 4x4ing/dirt biking and other machine realted outdoor activities...

Hell yeah. There should definately be a forum for this. I think there are enough of us that would make it a very active forum. Great idea.

Correct.  Sierra Nevada Mountains.  To be specific, that is the summit of Mt. Whitney.  Its the highest point in the contiguous 48 US states at 14,496 feet.  This was actually the second time I had been there.

And yes, I was really wearing shorts.  It was August and the weather was nice during the day.  But after spending the night on the summit I had to bundle up in the morning.  Morning was cold and windy!

And I'd love to go back with anyone who wants to!

So is there gonna be one or not admins?

Re: How about an Outdoor Sub-forum? [Re: Rebirtha]
    #3598883 -

Well this was discussed briefly amongst the mods and admins and it has been brought to light that the Physical & Mental Health forum should be a good home to these topics in and of itself.  I get the feeling people are shying away from the physical topics that could be included in that forum, and perceive it primarily as a psych-health forum.  We broadened the scope of it a few months ago so that such outdoor-related topics would fit well there.. but it's up to you guys to make the threads.

If, in time, it becomes that there are a significant amount of outdoors-esque threads in P&MH, then we can revisit the idea of granting it its own subforum.. but for now, prove that the idea has merit by envoking such topics in the already existing Physical & Mental Health forum and we'll work from there.

Nice pic TTS

well thanks for looking into geokills.  i honestly didnt think to put hiking threads in that forum before this thread as i too thought it was mainly for people who had problems...as it seems.

so what about a sub forum for that?

anyway i'll start posting some stuff in there now that i know im allowed

in fairness, would you agree that this is not very welcoming to hikers and that sort of thing?

"Are you depressed, overwhelmed, addicted, dumped, out-of-shape, unhealthy or just lacking direction? Welcome to the club. Whether you're tackling one of life's many trials and need some support or just want some tips on eating healthier, this is a forum for anyone who wants to get help or better themselves. "

seems kind of gloomy for people who love to do outdoor stuff (not always active) to come in to post. maybe jsut me.

    #3602006 -

ya.. the physical and mental health forum could do with a more positive description..maybe even a forum name change.

how about something like: A place to discuss healthy physical and mental living. Whether you need some help dealing with mental/emotional struggles, want some exercise tips, talk sports.. or just a place to get some good advice on life in general, this is the place.

Technically, if this forum was serving its new intended purpose.. culinary arts could be a subforum of it as well. save some of that forum clutter.

OK, so the fishing thread got moved to the Pub.  Not to question your administrative decisions Ythan, but why?  Are we wasting time trying to get an outdoors forum going?  If theres just not enough interest I can understand.  But if every outdoor related topic gets moved from P&MH how will we know if there is enough interest?

If we want to just use the Pub thats fine with me.  I spend most of my time there anyway!
