Well Jochen Gartz just mailed me this image of his outdoor collection of Psilocybe azurescens which have been fruiting in Leipzig since the eearly 1990s. The mycelium was collected by Gartz and me in 1992 in Astoria, Oregon and he has been able to propogate them wild outdoors year after year. Enjoy mj

yeh man they probably are just like right on the other side of the world as astoria and like theres probably a crack going right through the earth where the spores hide from the sun, i heard that spores react diferently to gravity maybe an earthquake shook them out and they lost there balance and tried to send up some pins and instead of coming up in astoria they went the wrong way and ended up in germany

Raindance. If you read my post above you would see that Gartz and i collected some chunks of mycelia imbedded in woodchips of the alder kindd from Hammond and Astoria. Gartz transpanted them into shave alder in his yard at his home in Germany.
He remulches thew year w and fertilizes his garden every spring. Funny thing about his crp is that they look slightly different then the ones we gatrher in Astoria, although it is the ame shroom.
mj
And no, not a single person who has done these transplants and Paul stamets list at least 7 or 8 out of Astoria locations form the US and Europe have ever found them growing anywhere but the locationt hey were transplanted to . If the mulch is not replaced they do not come back the following year. At least for those who have done this.
Even crawling on a mulchbed in you pants and then crawling in other areas where there are no shrooms will not guarentee that any will ever grow from carrying them on your person to a second locations.

i was just teasing mj i know about azurescens, those do look different minus the sand and grass, but the actual shape of the mushrooms look consistantly different than ones i've picked in the war/hammond area. there could be many variables, temp, substrate, the grass and sand keep them wetter and heavier, the sand leaves them darker colered. i've never picked them in astoria, i often if the ones there look more like the ones in the picture beings there in town and out of the sand and grass. does anyone have any pictures of ones found in astoria that are not cultivated?
