Interesting! Guzman himself originally identified a mushroom from Australia as Ps.Cyanescens until microscopic analysis indicated it was Ps.Australiana as below:

I saw pics of those wavy capped shrooms and could have sworn they were cyanescens!!! I will be studying mycology in school soon. I cant wait to be able to get into microscopy.

Guzman pretty much equates ps.Eucalypta with ps.Azurescens in terms of marcoscopic characteristics and ps.cyanescens with ps.Australiana. That being said, Azurescens itself was originally described by mycologists as a region representation of Ps.Cyanescens. Of interest are the PDF files attached to Anno's site www.fungifun.org - he can send you the link. Here is Guzman's work regarding descriptions and evolution of the genus Psilocybe. We dont actually have any psilocybes from the 'family' of mushrooms like Baeocystis

Sometimes cyans and azures can look similar, there are just too many macroscopic, as well as habitat differences to make me believe it. what other psilocybe do you know that grows out of sand for goodness sake?
