Satan is just as much a force for development as God. It was he who gave man knowledge according to Christian myth. The role Satan plays was to put man in dominion over the animals by giving him knowledge. I suspect that early on he was more of a trickster character in an agricultural society, and when that society became militarized and discovered organized warfare he morphed in to the much harsher version we all know and love today.

Of course... or at least that is how it should be :laugh:
I mean without Satan there is no polarity, and without polarity there is no game, and without the game, we do not exist.
And since we are all here, playing the game of existence we should be honest about it and accept that Satan is, just like God or any other form of being you want to talk about, part of the big picture and cannot/should not be denied/ignored... otherwise we just keep on living in hypocrisy and dishonesty.

I just crucified satan upsidedown on a stake and pissed on his head.But in all seriousness I think the devil is a symbol of our lower nature,not an actual being,what do you guys think?

Yes, well, Eliphas Levi's Gnostic Alchemical ("Solve et Coagula") Caduceus- Phallic Baphomet Goat is not exactly the Christian Devil (or the Hebrew Satan), but I've always rather liked the symbolism of this rendering.

In my bible Satan gave man the knowledge of good and evil.

Before that, man knew only good. There was no polarity, no game, only pure goodness all the time. Goodness with knowledge, of course.

God had a plan for man to attain more and more knowledge as time went on. I figure he would of let us in on the idea of clothes sooner or later.

Imediatlely after eating the forbiden fruit, man became ashamed of his nakedness, and fearfully hid from God because of this knowledge. It's a nonsense lie!

Evil is simply any will not in complete conformity with God's. It's simple really, there is only one perfect way, anthing that deviates from this is less than perfect. That's what evil is.

So, man is better off listening to God. This 'knowledge of evil' means that now we can fathom the idea of messing up a perfect creation.

Some knowledge.

In your Bilble, it is likely that "the shining one" suggested that Eve take the 'fruit of knowledge of good and evil,' and 'the shining one' was written 'serpent' - a symbol of Wisdom for the ancients. Its later interpretation as 'Lucifer' [Light-bearer] became confused somehow (conceptually, not etymologically) with 'Satan' [Adversary].

Allow me to recommend the first couple of chapters in Edward Edinger's Ego and Archetype for the Best explication (in Jungian terms) of the Genesis myth as the development of consciousness from the primal unconscious (Great Mother, Great Round). The Adam and Eve story makes perfect sense in this 'light.'  :wink:
