mj grow
    #4754500 -

This is a project I have decided to start on. I took some seeds from some really good bud I had. I would love any advice you have to give.

I bought a bag of potting soil

I bought 12 of these small clay pots

Some plant food spikes

Some Schultz plant food/formula

And the final set up. I have started just one so far, the rest will begin shortly.

Don't use Miracle-Gro or any other kind of chemical plant food. Start with good nutrient-rich loose soil with good drainage, and that should be all you need. If you need to fertilize somewhere down the line, be sure to use organic fertilizer, and use plain water for the next watering to remove built-up salts in the soil. Also, invest in some bigger pots. You will eventually need to transplant those if you hope to get a big yeild. 5 gallon buckets with holes drilled in the bottom work great.

If they do grow, and you need to fertilize, try ,peru seabird guano,
bat guano, does a great job.

Because the plants can have nasty chemical fertilizer still in them, it may be potent but it's not organic and who knows what smoking chemical fertilizer could do. I have heard a lot of people say it affects the taste too.

( personally i dont believe that Miracle grow affects the taste at all, and ive smoked quite a bit of homegrown that has used it before. )
but yea.. so ShroomOmatic ive decided to start growing again as well, i started with the same set up basically ,
1 - in my dirt mixture i put a bunch of peat moss at the bottom to get alot of the water , and it really would be a good idea to mix perlite witht that potting soil .
2 - i mixed a layer of dehydrated cow manure in there ( just to see , heard it added a bit )
make sure you germinate those seeds first , and have fairly decent lighting system.

( oh and i water my plants with fish water and emulsion.)

i am doing a bagseed grow in the same size pots right now. they are currently vegging in slow-release fert potting soil + perlite + a little bit of worm castings. i suggest you read the 2-3 major threads that BushyOlderGrower has on organic growing on www.overgrow.com. he has great tips for frosty buds.

some suggestions:
-soak the seeds in some h20 in a warm, dark place for 1-2 days until you see a little white root popping out. be very careful with the seeds at this point. plant them suckers.
-have a fan near your plants for air circulation and to help strengthen their stems.
-flouros work fine for vegging, and can be used for flowering, but a HID light is suggested.
-my first grow was destroyed by gnats, but some sticky paper along with a layer of perlite fixed that problem
-research as much as you can on MJ cultivation, just as you did for shrooms
-whenever i have the chance, i breathe on my plants (co2) to give them some love.

good luck!

Plant roots will absorb the same nutrients from organic or chemical sources. The Organic is better argument is nothing but a hippie derived myth.

i dont think its a complete myth.
there are laws here for growers of fruits and veggies etc. that say they have to stop fertilising a certain period before harvesting...

anyways chems are chems, wether they come from organic sources or not.
the main differences between both option are simply that organics are safer when it comes to ver fertilisng and chemicals have the advantage that you have more controll over the proportions.

some organics that are used here along with the chemicals are:
bat guano, fish emulsion and wormcastings...
particularly fish emulsion is popular here.

i grow extremely low tech so i have no experiance with those,
but i have used wormcatings and they seem to like that at young age...

check out this website: http://www.bionova.nl/SiteEN/En/indexEN.asp
these guys sell ferts made especialy for MJ and there are examples of scheduals for using them that might offer some insight on chemical ferts and how they are used...

Why use man-made fertilizers and yucky chemicals when you can use organic stuff? You're fooling yourself if you think Miracle-Blo doesn't have a negative affect on something.

hydro doesnt make sense unless u have 100+ plants...
it saves time and money but does nothing to improve the potential yield of your plants nor does it increase THC %.

its because the chemicals can be bought seperetly, giving u more controll over mixing ratios...
every grower i know mixes his own chems and has a very complicated schedual for doing so.
if they were to try that with biological stuff theyd end up with a warehouse full of fertilisers instead of a shelf of bottles...

so chemicals give u more articulated controll over all of the nutrients etc.

Well, I have easy and free access to lots of manure so I guess my situation is different. I still think organic is better.

I know. For my last grow I had to use a chemical fert for flowering. It's best to use organic whenever possible.
