Rice Powder and Jar Size

Im new to growing mushrooms and Im following the PF Tek I found on this site. It says to use brown rice powder. Does this mean to grind the rice as much as possible or is this really neccesary? The rice I bought is already pretty small (and it seems like it would take a LOT of grinding to get into powder form). Also, I bought pint jars instead of half-pint. Can I just double to ingredients described in the tek?

Yes it is, grind it, in a blender. Yes, with more chance of contamination.

Rice powder? Methinks you misread the tek. What you use is a 50/50 mix of vermiculite and brown rice FLOUR. You can buy that at almost any health food store.

Pint jars will take longer to colonize, and could potentially be much harder to take out of the jar when they're finished.
