submersible heater size
    #4721419 - 09/27/05 06:01 PM (18 years, 6 months ago)

i was just wondering if a very large submersible heater (250 watt-90 gallon tank) would still be sufficient for heating am much much smaller volume of water, or would it simply get to hot even on its lowest setting?

Start on the low setting & see how it does. That puppy should work fine.

You will need a deep tote so you can put at least 5 gallons of water in it...

I just started back into MYC...Only gonna focus on PANS..

Used a 100w submersible with 3 gallons with small tubs filled with rocks(extra mass to heat) to set my gow tubs onto...

Using a high output air pump...Temp is holding a constant 88-89 with steamy humidity.....Pans will be huge!

Old small steam jungle.........new one will be huge..

Waiting onmy myco bags to get here for the wheat straw...

My syringes are 2 years old..Hoping they still germinate..talk to ya soon Ralph...

thanks for the info, i will definetly try adding rocks to soak up more of the heat too. but 5 gallons is alot more than i planned on dealing with, i was going to attempt a smaller grow but what the hell, 5 gallons in a big ass tub it is!

as long as its thermostat controlled it should be ok . if you cant go with a larger tub spend the 20 dollars for a 50 watt sub heater with a thermostat...

the thing is i can get a 250 watt as part of a trade, this is all still circumstantial i may just end up buying a 50 watt we'll see.

250 will be too much. it will constantly be turning on and off. it will burn out quick and use alot of energy. 100 watt maxis what you should have with the amount of water your gonna use.

thats just my opinion though im sure people use 250 watt ones but i dont belive them to be ideal.
