Green Mold!!!!

I lost 4 jars worth of casing to green mold a couple weeks about and now a jars worth.. I was wondering if anyone could give me some basic information?
1st. Where is green mold most likely to come from? What is the most probable source in a bedroom?
2nd. Any pointers on how to avoid this horrible mold in the future? I've been as sterile as possible but its obviously not enough.

who knows but it is ugly. just try to be cleaner. clean the entire room before starting again

are you sterilizing or pasteurizing the casing?

Well it was straight verm and I was told that straight verm doesnt need sterilizing.. that might be the problem.. shit i cant beleive i didnt think of that.. oh well next time im just gonna go peat moss and verm.. does hydrated lime help reduce contams? and you can buy peat moss in bags right?

verm doesn't need to be past. or sterilized.
some folks just prefer to do so...
what type of water are you using in your casing mix???
i wouldn't use tap.

It was tap but the same tap that i used for the substrate and i had no problems..

most people dont pasturize their vermiculite because they feel it is unnecisary., and becuz they have had good results doing so.
Other people pasturize their vermiculite because they have either had contam problems, or they just dont want to risk the possibility of contams.

I always pasturize as a self reassurance.
i dont like to or want to jeprodize the time i have already invested in my project, to risk the possiblilty of failure.

if you do decide to pasturize, boil for 2 hours @140*F. in an old pillowcase or something along the lines of that.
i use a wife beater and rubberbands.
snip snip and the casing material falls out completely, as opposed to scooping it out and the such.
also, the arm holes are perfect for hanging so it can drain the casing material as it cools.
the correct moisture content can be determined the same way you judge the brf/verm substrate. (squeeze..drip..squeeze) make sure you have clean hands of course.

*this has worked for me, your results may very.

Yeah, i've had some green mold problems when i used unpasturized verm. Now I pasturize all casing matierials and add some lime as an added precaution. No green mold after close to a month with my current casings.
