I got my Porcupine Tree ticket

Are there any Porcupine Tree fans in the shroomery. They are my favorite band, I can't wait to see them, they kick ass live.
If you don't know this band, they are very diverse, sometimes psychedelic space rock, grunge, pink floydish, acoustic, just plain weird but always fantastic. The new album Deadwing is less space than their earlier stuff like Voyage 34 which is a must have classic.
Check out their video on their homepage or listen to the latest album.
Oh and they will return to the States after the European tour so catch them if you can.

Was that on the In Absentia album? I would have loved to seen them playing that live. That is one seriously good album.

I can't believe there is only one other Porcupine Tree fan on the shroomery, a bunch of shroom heads like you lot should love it.
"This remarkable, sometimes incoherent transcript illustrates a phantasmagoria of fear, grief, terror, exultation and finally breakdown. Its highlights have been compressed in this recording to make their own disquieting voice"
"This young man never had a bummer in some 33 LSD trips. Every one of them was a delight, everything under control, he need only to snap his fingers and down he came anytime. But on voyage 34 he finally met himself coming down an up staircase, the encounter was crushing"

I've heard that said about Opeth a lot on here, I have only heard a bit by them, sounded very trance. What would you recommend I listen to?

Any album by Opeth. Depends on if you like heavier death metal stuff or mellow melodic stuff. Some of their albums are pure heavy, some very light, some a mix of the two.
I would recommend: Blackwater Park, Still Life, Orchid, Morningrise, Damnation, Deliverance, My Arms Your Hearse

Robert Fripp is supporting them on the second leg of their tour. They play Euope first and then the USA. I can't wait, really excited.

Thanks Shroomism, I'll check them out. One of the things I like about Porcupine Tree is the mix of heavy and trippy.
