Worried about a friend

Ive known this girl for a long time, and Ive never seen her act this way before. She used to be very outgoing and a georges healthy Person. Recently it seems like she has been changing. Her personality is becoming very strange, lets say I'm trying to have a conversation with her she only looks in my eyes for a split second then glances off and answers with short unemotional answer. She always just smokes cigarettes and stares off, she barely talks at all anymore. It looks like she is in her own little world. She best compares to a robot. I have also noticed that she is getting skinnier and pretty pail. It makes me sad to see her transform into this person. She does no physical activities, i feel like she is rotting away her body and self. Ive herd a rumor that shes been doing coke but I'm not sure if I believe it. Does this sound coke related? Please help I'm really worried about this girl. She is or at least used to be a good friend. :frown:

If you're such good friends with her you should be able to talk to her about it.

How old is this girl? Does she live at home. I don't know whats wrong but what popped into my mind was sexual abuse issues.

shes 17 actually, sexual abuse seems possible but she doesn't run away from anything involving sex or kissing. Shes been smoking weed for a long time but I don't think weed can do that to someone, can it?

It sounds like it could be either the prodromal phase of a psychosis or a depression.

If it is a psychosis and it is cannabis-induced it might resolve easily if she stops smoking.

It sounds alot like anxiety and depression. It very well could be related to weed, especially the lack of motivation to do physical activities. Just don't assume anything too harsh because that may lead you to aleinate her more from you.

Dunno bro, the probablity that it's drugs is pretty high though. Is she like this with everyone? Since you have known her for a long time do you think you could possibly talk to her about this somehow? How long did it take for her to get this way, have you seen her throughout this entire "transformation"?

That's how I got when I did coke...for the second time only. I still have the problem come back to me time and time again where I get self conscious about eye contact and that's all I can think of. My mind gets scattered and I can't focus on things to say to people because all i'm really thinking about is whether I should look into their eyes or not...I then get deperessed and just avoid conversation completely and just pretend i'm dozing off in my own world when really i'm just avoiding eye contact. paranoid i'd say or something. It comes back after I shroom or do any other type of drug (except weed\alcohol). I find reading helps set my mind straight but that's about it! Tell her to stop doing coke
