Hurricane Work?
    #4638454 - 09/09/05 03:20 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

I've heard people talking about being able to go help out down in New Orleans and other places and getting paid over $20 an hour. Anybody know more about this?

i have already been offered 80 dollars and hour to work down there an intersting offer but i'm not sure i'm going to take it. If you know a skilled trade they are offering plenty of money

I'm sure if you lived nearby there'd be plenty of job opportunities for people trained for any kind of disaster relief.

I know in Florida they have people go through hurricane training courses or something and when a hurricane hits, they're down there making bank doing whatever it is they're doing, I have no idea what it is but I know they do it!

Do you guys know any companies in particular that are paying good? Or a site with information about it perhaps?

Engineering work would be cool (I need to find a job soon), but I suspect they are just looking for manual laborers....?

They are looking for skilled tradesmen, linesmen, electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, pipe workers, carpenters, steelworkers, and yes engineers, I'm a telecommunications technician myself about 50 people from my local are already down there

Damn, not a skilled tradesman. I was hoping manual labor/cleanup would be wanted. Will have to keep searching.

I'd go do roofing work down there if I actually had an offer. They'd have to fly me down from Alaska and set me up with living stuff though so it'd be more likely they'd just take the folks from surrounding states.

Anybody here gone there and worked? Know anybody that has? If so, what did they have to say about the experience?
