incubation chambers

afoaf has micron magic filter disks on his jars and he wants to know how to make the place where his jars are humid so the cakes don't dry out when he takes the lids off. How do you all make keep your incubation chamber warm and humid? if its humid and the lids are on will they rust?

put them in a large solid color tupperware container with a lid.
keep them at room temp. if you can try to put them by the hot water heater, but don't cause a fire. =)

room temp is 70 degrees. i would like to get them at 80 something. they have been colonizing for two weeks. how would them being in a conatiner keep the humidity up?

A foaf puts his jars on an electric blanket after he checks to find 80 with a thermometer. Setting the dial between 5-6 works good on the thermostat.

here is how i build my incubator:

bought a large sterlite container, and another one that was alittle smaller so it would fit in side the larger one.
then i put water in the larger container with a fish tank heat set at 85 degrees. ( put a cheep therometer on the side). drilled hole around the top edge of the smaller container for air exchange. put the smaller contaniner with lid inside the large one with water . drilled holes i the lid of the large contain and put the lid on the container to keep the small one in the water. use enough water to keep half way up the smaller container.

this worked well for me. kept the temp right at 85 and made it humid also.

hehehe hers what i do
Well fill my rubbermaid with water put the heater in the water and the jars so that the water is almost up 2 the lids But i leave the top of the rubbermaid about 1/5 open else the humidty goes 2 high and then your lids rust
