Ronco Food Dehydrator?
    #4588156 - 08/27/05 05:33 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

So I'm in the market for a food dehydrator, and I've come across this 5-tray electric model that they used to sell on infomercials years ago. It is said to be in great condition and the price is right, but does anyone use a Ronco model? What I'm concerned about is that there is no fan inside of it (it's WHISPER QUIET OMG!!!!) and I dont want the heat to be so much that I will suffer a loss of potency by the end of the drying process.

I use the same kind, fanless heating element dehydrator. It gets pretty warm in there (150F+) but my friends don't complain about potency from this drying setup whatsoever.

Now I have had friends complain when I dried five trays overnight They were BRF creepers BTW. Just my experience with Ronco

Ronco's work like an oven - meaning straight convection from a heating coil - without a fan. I prefer a dehydrator with a fan. Otherwise, you could simply use an oven. Which, I don't recommend.
Just my humble opionon.

Maybe he dries and eats a lot of shrooms in his dehydrator.
That might explain the spray painting the head thing!

Mine seems to work ok   ........ The Dehydrator, that is!

While I'm waiting on my Dehydrator I ordered, I read a tek while searching for info here, that said you can put them on a plate, wrap in a black shirt (to absorb heat) and put it under a grow lamp about 24" above the plate (which I'm already using so it was kinda convenient), and Ive already dried 2 flushes with this method it seems to be working great.

I Had several different sources say they didn't get off on an eighth apiece, these were dried (baked!) overnight in a Ronco, first and last time that happened and friends have been happy ever since. Good old fan/desiccant here.

That's strange hyphae, maybe it was the substrate (BRF) more than the drying process? I don't know how the Ronco differs from mine, but mine is still air element type, and h/poo cubes that sit on that thing for a few days can really rock your world, even small doses.

It may have certainly have been but I figure patience is a virtue throughout the whole grow why rush the final end process. Just my view now days.

Great view IMO. I too have had problems with trying to rush the drying process through too much heat. I've got the same dehydrator you've got posted up there man. I took the element out of it and am planning on building a large dehydrator with it. Fan included......
