Bad Credit Question

Okay. So I just got a credit report from this online place, and I have a few bad things on there. A couple of unpaid hospital bills from when I didnt have any insurance....

So my question is, do I just pay these, and they'll be off my credit report? Or even after I pay them, are they gonna be there awhile? Anyone know how that whole deal works?

I dont know if these bills (2K or so total in 4 sep accounts) will keep me from being able to get a loan for a car?

two things

1. if you pay them you need to INSIST the payee report them as paid

2. you need to keep proof of these pills being paid to provide to the reporting companies so you can insure they take them off

It take up to 8 months to see them come off though
