Why is IKEA so damn great?

Anyone ever shop at IKEA? Shit is so inexpensive and trendy..I don't even care about furniture and I like the store. They even serve meatballs in their cafeteria..yes, their cafeteria, in their furniture store. I'm heading over this afternoon to get a cool looking wall lamp for...$5.99.  :eek:

Well it's a lamp..so I'm assuming it will last. I wouldn't buy my couch from them.

My coffee table, nightstand, two bookshelves, comfy big armchair and kitchen counter are all from IKEA. Going back to buy a kitchen table too. Roommate just got a dresser from there and a desk for his room.

It's just too cheap for students/unemployed post-grads to pass up.

i went to one not too long ago for the first time... it's hella deceptive... they have these displays that are like picture perfect designs, but no one just has that perfect of a space...

you have to watch out at ikea, they sneak in crap with the regular stuff, so it looks nice, but it's really crap, for relatively the same price...

deffinetly something to go and do when your bored... but i went looking for a desk, and they all sucked... big time...

proper way of pronouncing ikea = E ke AH (emphasis on the E and AH) you should hear the swedes say it...sounds really homosexual.

i just went to ikea last week to get some kitchen utensils and some candles. there's a stand right on the entrance of hte ikea selling blueberries, lingonberries, cloudberries, fresh sweet peas, chantarelle mushrooms. but yeah their food is cheap and pretty generic nordic...meatballs, lingonberry sauce, gravy and new potatoes for just ?4.20

everywhere you go, the regular stuff is crap, try finding a new coffee table made
of actual wood, not the particle board crap, thats all anyone carries unless
you hit an antique shop (no longer new) or have it custom built, the sad part
you can pay $150 at a place like Ikea or $1700 at a place like ScanHaus

yeah i like to go to mill stores that sell unfinished furniture you can get solid stuff made of real oak, pine and hardwoods and put any finish you want on them and the stuff is a lot better quality than that particle board crap they sell at Ikea

I build my own stuff now, an investment of $30k in tools allows me to select
the woods and designs I want, things that are complimentary in the design, why
settle for something that someone else thought was nice when you can make your
own to suit your needs




because I dont like a lot od waste in what I do I also make other stuff from the
scrap, this was because I got sick of seeing $4000-$10,000 pieces of furniture
that wouldnt stand up to humid weather or rearainging the furniture a couple times

that's all well and good, but..that takes practice and tools and junk. IKEA just takes a car and a screwdriver.
