Oil expert Craig Smith predicts gas prices will skyrocket next year, jumping to five bucks a gallon.

Strange how the price of gasoline goes up but the prices of other petroleum products don't.  :rolleyes:

Yeah, why has vaseline not gone up in price?  ..Not..that I buy it a lot....or anything...

this is because stock options... companies can lock in prices on commodities for years in advance... They do this with oil but the savings aren't usually passed on to the consumer because demand isn't going anywhere soon. Everything else tends to follow rules applying to competitive markets.

CBOE - Chicago Board Options Exchange (i think that's what the acronym stands for) anyways it's very interesting stuff.

In toronto (yes, good ol canada), its hit a dollar+ recently per litre.


That's something like $3.8 per gallon.


Consider yourselves lucky. And i've heard some places in europe its twice that.

FX = right winged propoganda TV..... it's owned by FOX afterall (though they balance it out with Sperlock's shows maybe....)

seriously, everything on FX is geared to tug on your nationalist strings.... "rescue me", "over there", and the monthly made for TV movie about America being destroyed by evil forces, sometimes terrorists, sometimes oil.

not that peak oil is a scam, but.... we have to consider that we are running out of oil based upon our current techniques, as said there are other promising places.. we haven't explored much ocean etc... but we need to find efficient ways to get oil or it's just going to keep costing so much that we'll have an oil crisis either way.

the time to invest in better solutions was 50 years ago.

This winter is going to murder on my wallet. I was able to get around mostly this summer by bicycling. Come fall and I will either be freezing my ass off or paying too much for gas.
