My Def Leppard Story
    #4541560 -

So I spent pretty much the entiriety of saturday at work daydreaming about Def Leppard coming in for a pre-party or something and giving me some backstage passes for the concert that night.  I had forgone my own Def Leppard tickets so that I could get stupid Green Day tickets for my fiancee in September.

He came in around 5 to get some food and have a beer and it just so happened that I got off early!  WHAT WERE WE GOING TO DO ON THIS SATURDAY NITE?!

Adam:  Let's go to the concert.

Me:  We can't.  There's no money, it's all going towards Green Day and our trip to Montreal.  :frown:  :frown:  :frown:

Adam:  I'll pay, don't question me, let's go.

Me:

So we drove to Ottawa and got into the Corel Center at the 100 level.  We could have snuck down to the ground level we were so close.  .....could have.

Tea Party opened up, they were alright.  I"m not a huge Tea Party fan, but I can respect them.  They ended thier set with Heaven Coming Down and just kind of busted out with All Along The Watchtower about halfway through.  Now, that was awesome.  I was totally into that one.  Jeff Martin is an extremely musically talented guy.  Wooo.

So then the Lepppards come out.  I FUCKIN LOVE DEF LEPPARD.  Make fun of me all you want, I can take it.  I love them.  They rock, they love to rock, I love to rock....it's really all about the rocking.

I couldn't help but wonder if even after 25 years they even cared if the audience was into thier show when the Corel Center wasn't even sold out....oh, they cared.  Phil Collen GIVEN'R on the guitar like it was nobodies business.  The energy that guy has is incredible.  They mostly played all thier big hits, which was alright I guess.  Stuff like Foolin', Hysteria, Rock it, Armegeddon it, Two steps behind...  I guess they're pretty much giving people what they want to hear.  Fractured Love would have been cool, but no cigar for that deal.

I've never seen them live and all I wanted out of that night was two things:

A drum solo
Pour Some Sugar On Me

They didn't come.  "Thanks for coming out everybody!  We love you ONTARIO!"    The crowd goes apeshit.  I mean totally, compeletly, wild.  Deafening.  It was crazy.  This went on for at least 4-5 minutes and the band came back out and did Pour Some Sugar on Me.  I've never rocked out harder in my entire life.  Well maybe I have...it's really very speculative.  AAAAAAAAAAAAAND and killer drum solo from the one armed drummber with no shoes on.  I love that guy.  I love them all.  Each of them are wicked and awesome and totally sweet.

THAT'S NOT THE END OF THE STORY:
The radio station called me Monday morning and told me that I won two tickets to go see Pearl Jam in September.  HA!

I'm really not a huge Pearl Jam fan...they are alright, I used to like them a whole bunch.  I think I'm still going to go, cuz live music is pretty much always awesome.

Ok...that's the end.
