You're pretty much shit out of luck up there. East coast of Canada, you *might* find Liberty Caps in the fall. That's a huge might. Also look for Panaeolus subbalteatus. Other than that, I'd make some snowmen or go skiing

I've read that Liberty caps grow up that way. "Redhead (1989) notes several sightings from New Foundland and Nova Scotia." Psilocybin Mushrooms of the world, Paul Stamets.

Definately worth a try I think. Up until you start getting frost.

Oh, in case you don't already have this info. P. Semilanceata; in the fall in pastures, fields, lawns, or other grassy areas, especially rich grasslands grazed by sheep and cows. Especially abundant in or about clumps of sedge grass in the damper parts of fields.

I can assure you 100% that P.Semilanceata grow in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. It saves a lot of time if you have a general idea of where to look. Cow pastures seem to be the best, although I've picked them in the strangest spots. Look for yellowish grass, long reeds and clovers. Keep this in mind: If you find one, there are more. Be patient and keep looking, as it is easy to walk over huge patches without even realizing it. It is only after INTENSE frost that they stop fruiting. I've managed several times to pick them underneath snow. Happy Hunting.
