Help with mushrooms identification.

Hi everyone. ^.^ Hope I can get some help with the identification of these mushrooms. I don't have pictures, but I will give the best possible description I can as according to the faq.

Location: Michigan, USA

Habitat: Found in a lush green fertalized and well-watered lawn near a tree with leaves. ((sorry, don't know the tree type, figured I'd mention it had leaves rather then needles if that helped.. -laughs-)) Not far from the location of the mushrooms was a man-made lake.

Gills: Very wavy and very flexible. An off-white yellow/light-brown. Subdistant.

Stem: Offwhite on the outside. Very white on the inside. Solid. Relatively smooth. Usually around 2 inches in length. Very thin. Thicker near base.

Cap: Light brown around the edge, and dark brown in the center. The shape is curved convexly, with the darkened umbonate pushing out even more. In the most mature of the mushrooms I found, they flattened almost completely though. About 2-3cm across on the most mature of those I gathered.

The mushrooms do not bruise, have no noticable scent, were not slimy, and I attempted to take a spore print even wetting the top etc, with no success. I imagine this could be due in part to drying them in front of a fan. The taste is mild, though nothing I'd want in my mouth for very long.

I've tried to be as detailed as possible. Any other questions just ask. While I'd like to know if these are psychoactive or not, I'd much more appreciate a good identification. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you may have Marasmius oreades, the fairy-ring mushroom. If infact they are, this would mean they are not active, but a decent edible.

Heres some information on the mushroom. BAM!

I'd always wait for a second opinion though.

nice description, but there's not much we can do to ID little brown mushrooms without a picture...
