protecting your images

I was wondering, what is the best way to protect images that you will put online? I was reading about putting watermarks, but I don't want it to be visible because it makes the picture look like crap. Someone had said that there was some sort of watermark that would make the image nearly undetectable, but when you try to open or edit it, it shows up? Anyone know of anything like that?

This is a very tricky subject, there are many preventative measures, but to any computer literate, most are easily voidable.

Yeah I know ways to open up possibly any picture and I'm just a average Jane. Good luck though.

Couldn't imagine anything other than a hefty watermark, you need to damage the image slightly

if a watermark is not visiable in a browser, it wont be visible when they open it. both open files the same way. And even if there was a way, they could just get a screen shot, and paste it into their image software.

Digital watermarks are not visible in the image. They are applied by using a mathematical technique, called a Transform, on the data; usually a frequency domain transform. The watermark is then added to the histogram and the transform is reversed.

The result is a nearly impossible-to-remove superimposed watermark on the data that is many orders smaller than anything you could see in the image.

3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.
