Hey MJ, how exactly do you identify a fimentari vs a stunzii?? It seems to me that in can be a bit of a dubious ID i some cases. Nice pics as well. It seems like you dont see var muscaria as much around these parts as the formosa.

Awesome, MJ!
I actually saw my very first Amanita muscaria var. muscarias on the side of the road, between Belfair and the Shipyard in South Bremerton on Monday morning. I was soooooo surprised to see them, man! I have yet to go and pick them, but I plan to sometime this week. Man, they were fully mature and the caps seems to look like they were about a foot in diameter or possibly larger! The group looked to be maybe a total of 20 or so! It totally freaked me out, as I had yet fully awaken and this patch opened my eyes up and my heart was beating like a rabbit! I never thought I'd ever run into this species. Well, I guess I'll always run into new mushrooms now and then, huh? Hopefully Ps. azurescens next! Too cool!
Stay cool and good luck, John!-Levi7.

nice find john.

i believe stuntziis are a wood lover where as fimetarias prefer manured grass and manure.
