i GOT THE PETSMART JOB!!

So the past few days I've been wallowing in self-pity for the most part, pretty depressed and getting darker, without much motivation to stop myself from slipping...

I check my cell phone messages for the first time in days and there is a call on there from Friday. 

Saying that 'Jeff' wants to welcome me to the Petsmart family.  :smile:

I called back and Jeff wasn't there, so I told them to leave a message that I called and that I'll get back to him tomorrow. 

You don't think because I called back today (Tuesday) and he called on Friday that they've already filled the position do you??!!

If it IS true...and if I am about to be hired at Petsmart...then I will start breathing again.

You should really try to stop smoking so much pot if your depressed Ellemy. Your cool for the job though. I wouldn't sweat it. Maybe now this will give you something to occupy your time. I was happier when I was working. Now I will be starting trade school so that will give me something to do.

I think I'm going to be a groomer!!  Jeff works in the Grooming Department and he said that the training was pretty simple.  He said I could also go to "Grooming College" to be certified if I wanted.  :smile:

Can you imagine a better job...getting covered in suds and wet dog smell all day?  It's a dream position for me.  I love ANYTHING having to do with animals, especially when you have an opportunity to use your hands and get dirty.  I was prepared to clean kennels if I had to.

I'm a fish manager at Petco as of Monday. I just started last week as Associate. If you know your shit you can get paid lots of $$$. Groomers get commission in our store, you probably will eventually.

I worked at Pet Supplies Plus last year and they fucking suck. Tightwad bastards.

Even the part-timer's have insurance I think...including an employee discount!  :smile:  Will be very handy when I get my great dane within a year or so. 

And this manager, Jeff...is a very cool guy!  He was so easy to talk to in our interview.  I have a feeling I'm going to LOVE working there.

Job hunting is soo emotionally taxing.  Not to mention time consuming and the fact that you have to "play the part" just so people can hire you. :rolleyes:

What I loved best about Petsmart in the interview process is that I didn't feel like I had to put on an act at all.

Good luck on your quest, Mindcandy!  I'm sure you'll find something.  :thumbup:

I used to work there during highschool. It's an alright gig, depending on what you do. I was in charge of taking care of the fish. I definitely learned a lot about proper pet care... The thing is, the more you learn, the more you realize that Petsmart does a really shitty job of handling their animals. They're the worst. At least most of their stores are. After a year, I moved onto a nicer pet store, where people really knew what they were doing... That said, I'm sure that if you're working in grooming, you'll be cool.

You'll have lots of stories by the time you're done. Good luck with it. It's pretty relaxing most of the time.

Oh, are they drug testing you? I had to piss in a cup when I got the job.
