Condensation on filter disk problem
    #4479817 -

I'm using WBS in half-quart jars with tyvek filter disks to create some spawn. I'm using a small TiT incubator setup but the problem is there seems to be a lot of condensation forming on the walls of the container and also inbetween the metal lid and filter disk. I lost all of my last batch to the green I think because standing water on the disk wicked contams in.

Anyone have any suggestions for avoiding this problem? Also the jars have been incubating for a few days (after a generous g2g transfer) so they look like they could all use a shake. I'm afraid that the disks are contamed now, though, so I'm a bit reluctant to shake the jars lest I expose the WBS to the contams. In the meantime I just took the metal lid part off, dried the disks with a clean paper towel and stuck the jars back into the incubator with just the disk and o-ring on.

tyvek is water proof so there isnt much or a problem , but if your really paranoid you can lower the temperature but then it would take longer to colonize the jars /?

I thought tyvek was waterproof as well but I've also heard people talk about wicking in contams so I dono. The only jar that didn't contam last batch was the jar that didn't fit in the incubator and just sat around in my closet (colonized really slowly of course, but no contam). It was this jar that I used for the g2g.

Anyone else have experience with this problem?

Yes I had mucho contamos when I was using tyvek, I never could really figure out why. I've since switched to polyfill, no contamination since.
