I am under the impression that a shrooms loose some of there potency when you wait too long to harvest them. Do they actually drop in potency, or just don't produce any more psychoactive matter? What is the cause for this? One of my friends said they loose as much as 30% of there potency. Is this true?

once the veil breaks, the shrooms stop producing psilocybin. It is not that the potency decrease as the mushroom gets bigger, it is just the psilocybin to weight ratio decreases, therefore it would take more mushrooms to have the same effect.

After the veil breaks then production for spore's will start. You will not lose potency if you let the shrooms grow bigger. However the down side to all of this is your letting the shrooms take the water from the casing, which is a bad thing if you want more shrooms. thats why it's important to pop the little buggers out when the veil breaks....unless your taking a print.
