The only problem with a suicide hotline is that, for the most part, when someone makes up their mind to do so, they do it. Some people don't like to reveal such things about themselves so it would be difficult, unless by chance, you managed to get it out of them before they completely made up their mind.

First thing's first. It's too bad about this Lortab guy. He obviously believed he had nothing more to do in life, and that's a shame at 20 years old.

That said, I don't know how this is shocking to anyone. Many of you don't want to admit this, but drugs are a dark underworld. Not the light at the end of the tunnel. The lifestyle will eat you alive. I have been witness to this fact my entire life, and have had my own problems with drugs. Instead of talking about using "more cautiously" (whatever that means) and setting up a suicide hotline, why not abandon the lifestyle which brings people to such a low? This isn't the culture too many good people choose to follow. I have yet to meet the Mother Theresa of the drug culture.

I am sorry to say this. I am trying not to be offensive given the situation here, but people on the internet aren't going to save lives. There is an illusion of love around here based upon something very superficial. Every drug user gets their chance to shine...just like every fisherman gets his chance on fishing forums. It is a commonality, drugs and apathy, which bring you together...just like blood bait and fishing stories bring fishermen together. You grow fond of one another through the things you have in common, but you shouldn't get this confused with love. You can't count on people on the internet to be there for you when you need them. Lortab knew this. Everyone out there feeling alone in some chat room knows this. People can say a lot of shit, but that's all they can do...and pretending to care doesn't make you a good person.

I have grown apart from the lifestyle which treated me pretty well at one time. I used to meet chicks, get free drugs, and a bunch of people at least pretended to like me because of my connections to things. I came out of it all with nothing besides the two guys who got involed in the shit with me...but not before one of them shot himself in the face with a 9mm trying to escape his life...and not before my life was wrecked and I had a child to raise on my own. I have had friends and family members die young in accidents, suicides, and even one homocide. All of them where directly related to drugs. ALL of them. Don't pretend drugs are a good escape from life's problems. They're not. And the only way to use responsibly is to stop using completely. Until then, you are always taking a risk.

I feel very fortunate that I have found something to devote my life to, even if it isn't always easy. My daughter keeps my ass in shape so that I may be here to express my opinions, make my mistakes, and go through life learning lessons and making observations. You all better get your asses out there and find your place in life, because it's not here doing drugs. This place and this culture will do nothing but bring you down.

drugs are only drugs, the only power they have is that which you give them,
drugs dont answer questions or lead to enlightenment and as you've suggested
they can lead to a darker place but thats only if you allow them that

Maybe if you took a look around the fourms you would find out that we arn't only about drugs. Yes most if not all people here choose to do them, cautiously or not it is there choice. This website is her not only for stoping the spread of dangerous information about mushrooms but drugs in general.

i was mostly talking about this part.....i agree that the world of drugs can be a dark and scary place, ill give him that much. but i have met some very good people on these boards, know them in real life.....the love here between many of the members is most certianly not an illusion.
