i read the FAQ and couldn't find specifications...please help.

I went to the health food store today and couldn't find rye berries. So instead i bought two different types of grain: Wheat berries and Spelt grain. I was told that any grain will do. Do the mixture formulas change for these grains?

i found a tek/thread on the preperation and soaking of grain on the message board a long while back, but forgot to bookmark it. Does anyone know any good ones? I just don't want this operation to go to waste.

not much different i use soft winter wheat berries for oysters there softer inside and i think it works better then rye but simmer"tiny bubbles almost boil" less time 30 min and soak 24 hrs you want very few busted wheat berries or none

ok, thats helpful. From what I gather I should i should dump all my grain into a pot and simmer it for 30min. And I should use 3/4 of a cup of grain for each jar. That doesn't seem like enought(unless they expand).

SO I WILL USE A FULL CUP OF GRAIN AND 3/4 OF FRESH WATER.
Also after i simmer them do i still use these measurments(i assume they will expand).

You dont fill all the way up so you can easily shake them when their at 20% colonized.
