pinning questions

Two cakes I have stacked (one sitting directly on perlite the other sitting on top of that cake) have started pinning today. The thing is, they pinned from the bottom. They, most likely, get very little to no light down there. I flipped the cakes over so they would be getting about 12H of light a day and will hopefully grow up. Will they be fine? Also, I am a bit confused as to when to pick a mushroom if I want to spore print it. I will probably let it drops its spore for the first hour on a sterile peice of paper and then transfer it to a sterile peice of paper to catch the really sterile spoers? What should I look for when I pick it?

They will be fine. Wait until the gills darken (with spores) before printing. I see no point in moving it around.
