deleting ht.access files thru ftp

i have tried a couple installations on my website that included ht.access files, now when i try to delete them ( using ftp explorer) i get an error "cant delete, file not empty" how do i get rid of them if ftp cant see or delete the ht.access file:?

You could try uploading an empty file named the same and try deleting that? Donno if it will work or not, just a thought.

.htaccess is a per-directory configuration file for your webserver (apache)

You can set (or override server default) behaviors for your website, by directory

why must you delete it?

That kind of configuration can also be done at httpd.conf . In fact, i find it easier having a centralized configuration for such settings.
